Rigger

Spark is looking for a Rigger to join us in making a breakout hit based on an established console franchise. This is an opportunity for you to have a hand in creating a bold new take on 3rd Person Action/Horror. You will work together with the character and animation groups to create flexible solutions to bring our models to life in the game engine.

Responsibilities

• Rig, weight and setup controls and interfaces for character animation.
• Clear understanding of facial animation rigging as it pertains to both key frame and motion capture work flows.
• Collaborate with animation and character teams to create set ups and control rigs.
• Facilitate tools for exporting rigs to the engine.
• Follow direction from technical art director as well as appropriate art/animation discipline leads.
• Help troubleshoot, diagnose and correct art related performance issues.
• Specify and develop art production tools under the guidance of the tools programmer.
• Identify ways to increase efficiencies in artist workflow and production pipelines.
• Responsible for all in game character set up.

Requirements

• Experience with hard surface and smooth deforming character pipelines and setup.
• 4+ Years of Experience with Maya.
• Understanding of MEL Scripting.
• Technical problem solving skills.
• Understanding/experience of the crafts / disciplines you are supporting: Modeling, Animation, Programming.
• Excellent communication, time-management and organizational skills. A strong ability to work across multiple disciplines to gather feedback and address cross-functional issues and support multiple groups.

Preferred Skills

• 3-5 years film or game production, and shipped game experience strongly desired.
• Blend shape facial setup experience a plus.
• GUI Design.
• Understanding of biomechanics and anatomy.
• Some experience with Maya C++ API / Python and/or the Unreal 3 Engine.
• Passion for video games.
• Prior experience as a character modeler and/or animator.
• Experience with Motion Capture pipelines.>
• Proficient in Autodesk Motion Builder.
• Understanding of database management and asset tracking techniques.
